To ensure alignment with the tool holder and easy pinning and tensioning of the fabric, we made a mounting plate for the AxiDraw with felt on top. However, if you want to make quick tests without the risk of ink dripping while it is still wet, you need to be able to easily take out the fabric without tilting or unpinning it. This is why we made a simple system consisting of a machine base plate and a interchangeable felt base plate.
